Rowing

The Wentworth Rowing Club was first established in 2009 when a dedicated group of staff and parents decided to assist a number of students who were keen to get involved in rowing.

From humble beginnings with 2 borrowed boats and 12 rowers, Wentworth Rowing, over a few short seasons, has grown in numbers and plant immensely to now include a good supply of our own boats and a number of enthusiastic students.

Under the watchful eye of Head Coach and Principal Bruce Tong, our rowers train on and off the water for many months – up to 8 times a week at the height of the season. Rowing requires a strong commitment from our pupils and, to date, all the hard work and dedication has paid off.

Results over the past few years have rapidly improved and include podium places in all of the major regattas, such as the annual Head of Harbour Regatta and the National Secondary Schools’ Rowing Regatta (commonly known as the MAADI Cup), as well as some highly prized “Top 10 Badges” awarded by NZ Rowing for achieving a top 10 placing in the prestigious Under 18 events.

Rowing is open to students from Years 9 to 13, and costs are calculated to include all land-based and water trainings, all regattas, rowing uniform and one week summer camp. Food and accommodation for all regattas and camp are also included. The only additional cost is for the MAADI Cup regatta which alternates between the North and South Islands for National titles.

Costs – $TBA – see above for inclusions in cost.
Uniform – Rowing singlet provided and students purchase black shorts.
